First let me start off by apologizing for the long hiatus. As most of you know, we had decided to move from Ontario to Alberta. We did that at the end of May. What was supposed to be a 5 day drive almost doubled after we had trouble with our trailer. Now we are staying with family as we were unable to line up a rental house that would accept all of our pets. I haven't had my computer and I'm still living out of a suitcase. But the good news is that we are moving into our own place at the beginning of August! I am very excited!
But I am MORE excited about the big news... I entered Kili in her very first "real" trial. Up until now she had been entered FEO (for exhibition only) to gain ring experience in different locations. There was an evening trial last weekend so I took the plunge and entered her for real. I could not be more pleased with her! We used our Steeplechase run as a warm up since she hadn't had any practice on weave poles and I knew she wouldn't do them. Then she was ready to go for her Jumpers run. I am only slightly disappointed to say that she SHOULD have had her very first Q but pulled the last bar. It was disappointing for sure, because she ran so well. But only slightly because I am so happy with how she did run. A bar is just a bar. Bad luck. Especially since she typically is a very careful dog and doesn't have much trouble with bars.
Next trial is a full weekend trial in mid-August at the same location. We are going to drill weave poles as much as possible so she can be ready for Standard!
